Middle District Developmental League (MDDL) FAQ

What is the Middle District Developmental League (MDDL)?
MCSA club leaders have been discussing this with HSC and WUSC for the past 2.5 years. A little over a year ago, we agreed the best approach was to formally commit to create an organized league dedicated to "fill the gap" that exists between “Rec” soccer and “Travel” soccer. All three clubs, along with Tennessee State Soccer Association (TSSA - our governing body), hired a professional sport consulting firm. We had extensive meetings to put together an organized plan to be implemented with the 3 largest recreational clubs in the area.

How does the MDDL differ from regular recreational soccer?
MDDL offers a more competitive environment with licensed coaches, opportunities to play against higher-level competition, minimal travel requirements, and custom uniforms. It bridges the gap between recreational and travel soccer.

Who is eligible to participate in the MDDL?
Players in the U10-U12 age groups who are registered with MCSA for the fall season and classified as Division 4 players are eligible to participate in MDDL.

How are players selected for the MDDL?
Players are selected by coaches those who are chosen will be transferred from the recreational league to the MDDL.

What are the costs associated with the MDDL?
In addition to the normal MCSA registration fee of $65, players selected for the MDDL will need to pay an additional $50 for a uniform kit. This brings the total cost for MDDL participation to $115.

Can players from outside clubs participate in the MDDL?
No, players from outside clubs, such as CSC, are not eligible to participate in MDDL. This decision was made to maintain the integrity of the program and prevent the introduction of division 3 players.
