Middle School Basics

 

  1. Teams will be evaluated fairly and placed into tiers.  The schedule will be written after the Jamboree and games will be scheduled mainly on Mondays and a few Wednesdays.  Fridays may be used if weather becomes a problem. IF odd teams, 1 team will have a bye each week.

  2. A Point System will be kept for team rankings.  3 points will be awarded for a win, 1 point for a draw.  Scores will be kept and head to head will be used as first tie breaker.  (if teams play more than once-its progressive and scores added together) Goal Differential as second.

  3. No PK’s in regular season games.  In modeling the HS program, we will follow their module and OT/PK’s will only happen in play off games.

  4. Championship Game: I want all Teams to be present, cheering and there for Awards presentation after.  Date may vary…depending on weather throughout season…but I am passionate about having a big, Championship Night and it be a special night.  All Star Teams/Coaches will be recognized.

  5. All Star Team:  players will be chosen by their coach:  4 players from First place team, 3 players from second place, 2 players from third place team and 1 player from remaining teams.  These players will receive special recognition after the Championship game.

  6. League MVP’s:  1 Offensive player and 1 Defensive player will be chosen.  Refs, opposing coaches and league reps will choose these players and they will be announced at the championship game.

Rules

MCSA Middle School Soccer Program Rules

Generally speaking, MCSA follows National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) playing rules.  Additionally, we have adopted the following exceptions/clarifications to NFHS rules:

Game Time: 30 Minute Halves // 5-10 minute Half Time (Referee Decides)

Substitutions: Unlimited at all legal times.
• Both or Either Team - Kick Off // Goal Kick // injury – only if injured player is substituted.
• Your Possession –  Throw In // Corner Kick // 
• Other team may also substitute IF the team in possession is subbing players.
• Yellow Carded Player must sub out – May return at the next legal substitution for their team. Unlimited Subs for BOTH teams.

Red Carded Player:  (Ejection) Must leave the field but MAY remain with the team on the team bench. Player may NOT play in the team’s next game. Two yellow cards to the same player WILL cause a red card and the team WILL NOT be allowed to replace the player on the field.

Game Re-Start: if stopped by the referee for injury – the team in possession at stoppage will restart with an IFK at the spot where the ball was at when the referee stopped play.

Throw in: An errant throw in (foot up, bad throw or never entering play) will change possession. (The other team will have the throw in)
